Reading Pillow Sewing Class - October 24th

Class Overview

A reading pillow or book pillow is an easy project for a beginner sewist or a quick gift project for an experienced sewist. You can choose what goes in the pocket based on the recipient or their age. Dr. Suess for a new reader, the latest comic or manga for an older reader, or a photo album for your favorite grandparent. You could add a recipe book for someone's first apartment or as a wedding gift. An artist might enjoy a new set of colored pencils and a sketchbook. The creativity is endless.

What You'll Learn

• Techniques for sewing pillow covers

• How to create and attach a fabric pocket

• Basic quilting and applique methods (optional)

Materials Provided

We supply the pattern, cutting mats, rotary cutters and irons. We have a few sewing machines for those who need one. We have a limited selection of rulers and may not have the size you like. Please feel free to bring your preferred tools with you.

• Sewing Machine with manual

• Fabric - requirements will be sent upon registration

• Thread - requirements will be sent upon registration

• Pins

• Small pair of scissors for fabric and thread

• Seam Ripper

• Preferred personal quilting tools

Class Outline

Introduction and Materials Overview: Learn about the materials we'll be using and choose your fabric.

Cutting and Preparing Fabric: Measure and cut your fabric pieces, including the pocket.

Sewing the Pillow Cover: Construct the main body of the pillow cover.

Creating and Attaching the Pocket: Sew the pocket and attach it to the pillow cover.

Optional Embellishments: Add quilting, applique, or other decorative touches.

Final Assembly: Assemble and finish your reading pillow.

This class is suitable for beginners and intermediate sewists. No prior experience is necessary, as our instructors will provide step-by-step guidance.

Quilting Class Cancellation Policy

Cancellation by Participants:

Participants who wish to cancel their registration for a quilting class must notify Quiltiful at least 7 days prior to the scheduled class date to receive a full refund. Cancellations made less than 7 days before the class date may be eligible for a partial refund, subject to a cancellation fee of 50%. No refunds will be issued for cancellations made within 24 hours of the scheduled class time or for no-shows.

Rescheduling:

Participants may request to reschedule their quilting class to another available date with no additional fee, provided they notify Quiltiful at least 48 hours in advance of the original class date. Rescheduling requests made less than 48 hours before the class may be subject to a rescheduling fee of $25.00.

Class Cancellation by Quiltiful:

Quiltiful reserves the right to cancel a quilting class due to unforeseen circumstances, low enrollment, or other reasons. In the event of class cancellation by Quiltiful, participants will be notified promptly, and a full refund or the option to reschedule to another available date will be offered.

Refunds:

Refunds for cancellations will be processed within 7 business days from the date of cancellation request. Refunds will be issued in the original form of payment used for registration.

Special Circumstances:

Quiltiful may consider exceptions to the cancellation policy in cases of documented emergencies or extenuating circumstances. Participants should contact Quiltiful to discuss such situations.
