Fidget Quilt Sew Along - April 5th

Come join the Quidget Filters and make some Fidget Quilts with us!

We are looking for quilters to make fidget quilts that can be given to area residents who are battling Alzheimers or Dementia. Not all Alzheimer or Dementia patients benefit from a fidget quilt, but many do. 

A Fidget, Fiddle, Touch Quilt or Sensory Activity Blanket is a small lap quilt, mat, or blanket that provides sensory and tactile stimulation for the restless or "fidgety" hands. Without something to pick at or mess with, many will pick at their skin, nails, clothing, etc.  Enter in the fun fidget quilt:  now their hands are busy and occupied.  

Fidget quilts involve lots of textures and motion.  Each “block” has something different to offer – a new texture or something on it to fidget with such as pockets, laces, trims, appliques, buttons, secured beads, ribbons, braids, etc. The most common use of touch quilts is to comfort, calm, and stimulate anxious patients with mid - to late-stage Alzheimer's disease and related dementia.

Materials needed:

We will have materials at the store that you can use but we are looking for donations of the following items:

• Velcro

• Textured fabrics

• Washers, nuts

• Smaller pvc fittings that screw together

• Toy tools for construction, gardening or other hobbies

• Lace, trim, ribbons

• Buttons, beads, plastic rings

• Zippers

Skill Level: Motivated Beginner

Quilting Class Cancellation Policy

Cancellation by Participants:

Participants who wish to cancel their registration for a quilting class must notify Quiltiful at least 7 days prior to the scheduled class date to receive a full refund. Cancellations made less than 7 days before the class date may be eligible for a partial refund, subject to a cancellation fee of 50%. No refunds will be issued for cancellations made within 24 hours of the scheduled class time or for no-shows.

Rescheduling:

Participants may request to reschedule their quilting class to another available date with no additional fee, provided they notify Quiltiful at least 48 hours in advance of the original class date. Rescheduling requests made less than 48 hours before the class may be subject to a rescheduling fee of $25.00.

Class Cancellation by Quiltiful:

Quiltiful reserves the right to cancel a quilting class due to unforeseen circumstances, low enrollment, or other reasons. In the event of class cancellation by Quiltiful, participants will be notified promptly, and a full refund or the option to reschedule to another available date will be offered.

Refunds:

Refunds for cancellations will be processed within 7 business days from the date of cancellation request. Refunds will be issued in the original form of payment used for registration.

Special Circumstances:

Quiltiful may consider exceptions to the cancellation policy in cases of documented emergencies or extenuating circumstances. Participants should contact Quiltiful to discuss such situations.
